Job Advertisement: Casual Vertical Garden Technician

Company: Space Plants.

Location: Loganlea (servicing Gold Coast, Brisbane, Sunshine Coast).

Rate: Based on experience. (Work vehicle, tools, and equipment provided). 

Are you passionate about plants and horticulture? Do you want to work with cutting-edge vertical gardening systems and leading green infrastructure technologies? 

Space Plants is seeking a motivated and professional Vertical Garden Technician to join our dynamic team on a casual basis.

Key roles and accountabilities; 

  • Install and maintain a range of different high quality vertical gardening systems. Such as large gabion cage and fabric system, Elmich and Skale Pot Systems, Elmich VGM Module systems. 
  • Set up stunning vertical garden displays for events, weddings and workshops.
  • Planning and carrying out daily maintenance runs on vertical gardens around Brisbane, Gold Coast and Sunshine Coast.
  • Maintaining health and visual appearance of vertical gardens, includes pruning, hedging, planting, foliage feeding and disease and pest management.
  • Set up irrigation systems and fertigation manifolds using equipment such as Hydrawise Wifi Enabled Controllers and EZ Flo nutrient dosing units. 
  • Carry out comprehensive soil and water tests.
  • Compliance to safety management plans.
  • Complete daily online reports for record keeping to enable invoicing.
  • Coordinating access & equipment such as EWP’s, Scaffolding, Trestles.
  • Working at height.
  • Nursery work, looking after plants, propagating, seed raising and watering.
  • Facility and grounds maintenance.
  • Using scientific methods and tools to map, monitor and translate plant related data to achieve optimal plant health.
  • Actively participate in the continuous improvement of the company and help build its capability to achieve business goals and objectives.
  • Attend meetings and training when appropriate.
  • Assist with, and have interest in, research and development projects of new horticultural innovations using IoT devices such as micro controller boards (e.g. ESP32).

What We’re Looking For; Qualifications & Experience:

  • Passion for plants, horticulture, and sustainability.
  • Current QLD Driver’s Licence (manual preferred).
  • Ability to work autonomously with a professional attitude.
  • Strong communication and customer service skills.
  • Reliable, organized, and adaptable to a fast-paced startup environment.
  • Comfortable working at heights (ladders, EWP, and abseiling).
  • Interest in horticultural technology, IoT, and AI.
  • Tech-savvy and eager to learn new systems (email and web-based maintenance logging).
  • Positive, quick learner with creative problem-solving skills.
